Kristina Schneeberger, social educator & animal-assisted educator

My time at HLW19, which began in 2016, was especially valuable to me. I did not only learn a great deal professionally, I also gathered important experiences that moved me forward personally. Above all that includes working together as a community, the support of the teaching staff, and the chance to discover and build on my own strengths. HLW19 showed me how important curiosity, openness and mutual respect are.

Back then I chose the HLS school type - Higher College for Business Professions with a focus on social management. Now, nine years later, I work as a social educator at a residential care home for children and young people with chronic and life-limiting illnesses.

At HLW19 I was able to gain experience through the subjects social and project management, but also through my many placements in a wide range of fields, and I realised that the social sector - despite the negative labels often attached to it - is a great place to work. Subjects such as accounting, business administration, civic education and law have also helped me in my further training and in my private life.

I owe my second profession as an animal-assisted educator to a summer placement that HLW19 required me to complete! 😊
